Yes. Seton is one of the most family-oriented communities in Calgary, built around a hospital, a public library, a 330,000-square-foot YMCA, and a growing network of parks and pathways. The biggest thing families need to plan around isn't safety or amenities — it's school capacity, since Seton is still building out its own schools. Schools in Seton: what's built, what's not

Seton is a newer community, and school capacity hasn't caught up to population growth yet. Here's where things stand:

- St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic School (K–9) operates directly in the community through the Calgary Catholic School District, giving Catholic families a designated school inside Seton itself.

- Public (CBE) students are not guaranteed a seat inside Seton yet. Depending on capacity in a given year, children have been designated to schools outside the community, including options in Lake Bonavista, until a public school is built in Seton.

- Designations change annually. The Calgary Board of Education uses a designated-school model based on home address, and popular southeast schools frequently move to closed or overflow status as new communities fill in.

What this means for you: if school placement is a top priority, we check the current CBE designation for a specific address before you write an offer — not after you've moved in. This is the single most common surprise we help Seton buyers avoid.

Parks, green space & recreation

Seton was designed for an active, outdoor family lifestyle:

- The Block — Seton's 14,000-square-foot HOA facility — includes a splash park, hockey rink, tennis courts, a gymnasium, and multi-purpose community space.

- Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton is the largest YMCA in the world at roughly 330,000 square feet, with pools, fitness centres, a library branch, and daycare, all in one building.

- A new 6.4-hectare regional park is planned to open in 2028, adding significant green space to the community as it matures.

- Extensive pathways and green corridors connect Seton's residential streets to its retail and recreation core, so most families can walk or bike to daily amenities instead of driving.

Is Seton safe and walkable?

Seton was master-planned as a walkable urban hub rather than a car-dependent suburb. Homes sit within walking distance of the YMCA, South Health Campus, the public library, and Market Street's shops and restaurants. That density and walkability — combined with steady population growth and ongoing City investment (including the future Green Line LRT) — is part of why Seton was named neighbourhood of the year in Calgary in 2021.

As with any growing community, we recommend families view a specific street at different times of day before buying, and we're always glad to walk it with you.

Everyday amenities that matter to families

- South Health Campus — a 269-bed hospital with a 24-hour emergency department, just minutes from most Seton homes.

- Seton Public Library — a full-service branch inside the YMCA building.

- Future Green Line LRT — planned transit access that will improve commute times out of Seton over the next several years.
